dare to dream ranch
Founded in 2014, the Dare to Dream Ranch is a non-profit dedicated to helping our veterans overcome their current situations and deal with future challenges through complimentary and alternative medicine. Through the utilization of methods such as equine therapy, yoga, horticulture therapy, and nutritional cooking, they aim to help our veterans make a successful transition to civilian life.
BHB was recruited by Karen Dalton (founder of the Dare to Dream Ranch) to create a song which would spread awareness for the battle our veteran's face in the form of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. From a combination of Karen's guiding help, first hand experiences as-told by veterans, and much research, the final product is our song, "Dare to Dream". The story is told from the first-person, depicting the daily struggles that our veterans face, from the seemingly-minute, to over whelming hardship. Our goal was to capture the essence of a veteran's struggle to transition back to civilian life, and ultimately his/her realization - one doesn't have to over come obstacles alone.
It is our hope that "Dare to Dream" can bring attention the the challenges our veterans face, as well as the great work being done by Karen and the rest of the staff at Dare to Dream Ranch.
RI Fire chiefs honor flight
The Rhode Island Fire Chiefs Honor Flight hub's mission is to transport our WWII heroes to Washington, D.C to visit and reflect at their memorials. Four times per year they make this journey, bringing with them a new group of heroes from the greatest generation. In preparation for each of these Honor Flights, a customary Meet & Greet is held for the veterans and their families. To kick-off these gatherings, BHB's Amanda and Billy have the honor of performing a selection of cover tunes as well as the National Anthem. Having this opportunity to give back through our music is truly a blessing.
